چکیده

(1) Background: Harmful algal blooms (HABs) can negatively impact marine ecosystems, but few studies have evaluated the microbial diversity associated with HABs and its potential role in fates of these proliferations. (2) Methods: Marine prokaryotic was investigated using high-throughput sequencing 16S rRNA gene during bloom declines two dinoflagellates detected summer 2019 along northern southern Tunisian coasts (South Mediterranean Sea). The species Gymnodinium impudicum (Carthage, Tunis Gulf) Alexandrium minutum (Sfax, Gabes were identified microscopy molecular methods related to physicochemical factors compositions. (3) Results: abundance G. decreased over time decreasing phosphate concentrations. During decay, prokaryotes predominated by archaeal MGII group (Thalassarchaeaceae), Pelagibacterales (SAR11), Rhodobacterales, Flavobacteriales. At Sfax, A. declined concentrations increasing pH. peak, communities largely dominated anoxygenic phototrophic sulfur-oxidizing Chromatiaceae (Gammaproteobacteria) before at end survey. Both ubiquitous found low proportions decay. Contrary photosynthetic Cyanobacteria, photo-autotrophic -heterotrophic Rhodobacterales Flavobacteriales contents remained stable dinoflagellate decays. (4) Conclusions: These results indicated changes community decays, suggesting different bacterial adaptations environmental conditions, core populations that potentially able degrade HABs.

Diversity and Dynamics of a Widespread Bloom of the Toxic Dinoflagellate Alexandrium fundyense

Historically, cosmopolitan phytoplankton species were presumed to represent largely unstructured populations. However, the recent development of molecular tools to examine genetic diversity have revealed differences in phytoplankton taxa across geographic scales and provided insight into the physiology and ecology of blooms. Here we describe the genetic analysis of an extensive bloom of the tox...

Prokaryotic diversity--magnitude, dynamics, and controlling factors.

There are probably millions of species in the microorganismal domains Bacteria and Archaea (the prokaryotes), and we are only just beginning to work out the basic principles governing their distribution and abundance in natural environments. One characteristic that has become clear is that prokaryote diversity in aquatic environments is orders of magnitude less than in sediments and soils. Hypo...

Population dynamics of the Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus commerson) in coastal waters of Oman Sea

Length composition data of narrow-barred Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus commerson (Lacepede 1800), landed between April 2002 to March 2004, were monthly used to estimate the growth, mortality and exploitation parameters of the stock. Maximum fork length and weight were 170 cm and 38 kg, respectively. Nonlinear least square fitting provided a complete set of von Bertalanffy growth estimates: L&...
